Republican voters should support Daniels/Rubio
This month, Republican Party officials will select the next chairman of the Republican National Committee.
However, it is not the election on the minds of most party members considering how the party fared in last year’s historic contests.
The 2012 Republican presidential primaries will likely feature a number of personalities including Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney, John Thune, Newt Gingrich and Tim Pawlenty.
If the party wants to change the electoral battleground, voters should rally to support Mitch Daniels.
Daniels has served as the Governor of Indiana since Jan. 2005. He previously served as a White House political adviser and the Director of the Office of Management and Budget. In his two terms, Daniels has worked to lower taxes, cut spending and balance the budget. He also won re-election in 2008 with 58 percent of the vote.
Republicans should also push for the ticket to feature Marco Rubio, an incoming senator from Florida. Rubio formerly served as the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives.
Rubio is a proven fundraiser and possesses remarkable charisma. His presence on the ticket may also help the party carry Florida, which is the home of the 2012 Republican National Convention.
In 2012, the Republican Party is aiming to win Florida, Indiana, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia. A ticket featuring Daniels and Rubio is the best scenario in retaking 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
