A free jazz concert is at noon Tuesday at Morrison Gallery at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College.

Presented by the ECTC Fine Art Series, the concert features the Jamey Aebersold Jazz Quartet. The quartet consists of Jamey Aebersold, saxophone; Steve Crews, piano; Tyrone Wheeler, bass; and Jonathan Higgins, drums.

Aebersold was inducted by the International Association of Jazz Educators into its hall of fame in 1989. He joined luminaries such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker and Louis Armstrong, according to a press release.

In 2007, Aebersold received the Indiana Governor’s Arts Award from Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels. Aebersold graduated from Indiana University in 1962 with a master’s degree in saxophone and was awarded an honorary doctorate of music from IU in 1992.

For more than 40 years, Aebersold has been the director of Summer Jazz Workshops, week-long programs that have traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Germany, England, Scotland, Denmark and Canada.

He also developed a series of play-along books and CDs, as well as a best-selling DVD/video featuring his jazz clinic in Brazil.
