Jeanette “Jeanie” Bruner Phelps, 87, of Franklin, Tenn., died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at her residence.
She was a native of London, Ky., and graduated from Louisville Girls High School. She married Paul Phelps in 1945 and they made their home in Elizabethtown for 58 years, where she retired after 30 years of civil service at Fort Knox. She loved to dance, loved music and enjoyed playing tennis. Jeanie was an avid sports fan.
She was preceded by her husband, F. Paul Phelps; her parents; George S. and Grace Cornn Bruner; and a sister, Inas Otten.
She is survived by a daughter, Paula (Gregory R.) Phelps-Weaver of Columbia, Tenn.; three brothers, Marshall Bruner of Gretna, La., Kenneth Bruner of New York and Jerry Bruner of New Jersey; three sisters, Peggy Smith of Louisville, Grace Duncan of Bardstown and Sylvia Zickel of Arkansas; and two grandchildren, Seth Weaver and Liam Weaver.
The funeral was Saturday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with the Rev. Michael Gibbons officiating. Burial was in Hardin Memorial Park.
