Last week the SyFy channel aired an episode of “Haunted Collector,” which included a segment on the Hardin County History Museum.
I actually was interviewed for that segment. Although my footage didn’t make the final cut, the real star of the show was Elizabethtown.
In fact, this town has had its share of the spotlight lately.
Just last night, Morrison Lodge, the Masonic lodge in Elizabethtown, was included on “Haunted Collector.”
Yep. “Haunted Collector” again.
Back in May, the lodge also was used as a location for a segment of “Lucid,” an independent film from the Kentucky company Big Biting Pig Productions. That movie, a thriller/horror, still is in production and will be released in 2013.
So how did this all come to be?
The filming for “Haunted Collector” took place back in February. A member of one of the paranormal investigation groups I belong to, P.A.S.T. of Kentucky, was a volunteer at the museum and contacted the show’s producers about possible paranormal activity there.
P.A.S.T. had investigated the location and had some interesting things happen. I was interviewed about my experience, which involved an investigative device which indicated I was not welcome in that area.
Yep. We joked I got kicked out of the general store by a ghost.
Apparently that story interested the producers and one day, out of the blue, I was visited at my workplace by someone from the show who wanted to interview then and there with a handheld camera. I did not know the show was visiting up to that point.
Later, I was given a date to be on location at the museum for an on-camera interview. It was an interesting experience.
At any rate, the “Haunted Collector” investigators performed their own investigation. They also had learned about the Morrison Lodge, which has been investigated quite a bit.
They filmed the museum and lodge episodes back-to-back.
Big Biting Pig Productions came into play when my girlfriend, Rebecca Ricks, reconnected with old friends on Facebook. One of those friends had been cast in past films by the company and we quickly became familiar with Big Biting Pig Productions and their films.
After attending the premiere of their latest film, “Spirit Stalkers,” Rebecca and I started talking about how good it was.
Rebecca initiated a connection between Morrison Lodge and Big Biting Pig Productions, and they arranged to show “Spirit Stalkers” at the lodge in September. Additionally, when locations were being sought to shoot “Lucid,” she suggested to our friend at the lodge he offer that building.
We ended up helping out with the night the scenes shot at the lodge. Shooting began on a Saturday night and went until the early hours on Sunday, but the time seemed to speed by.
We had a blast.
It’s not quite over, though.
Earlier this year, Rebecca and I auditioned for “Lucid” and got small roles.
Our scene will be shot this weekend and we’re really looking forward to it.
I’m pretty sure I won’t get kicked off the shoot by a ghost, and maybe my footage won’t end up being cut.
I can hope anyway.
