Judge approves motion to consolidate cases against professional shoplifters

A Hardin Circuit Court judge approved a motion Tuesday to consolidate the jury trials for two out-of-state women police say are involved in a “professional shoplifting” ring.

Darlene Burnett, 59, and Amber Burnett, 35, both of Cleveland, were indicted in September for charges of theft of identity, complicity to commit tampering with physical evidence, three counts of complicity to commit second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor, complicity to commit theft by unlawful taking less than $500 and second-degree disorderly conduct.
