Rineyville Elementary will hold is annual “Back to School” Rally from 4 to 6 p.m. July 31. At 5:45 p.m., the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new playground will take place. This is a great time to meet teachers, take care of lunch, get bus information and take a look at the new school. The Family Resource Center has community service members coming to share opportunities that are available. Also any new students not registered can do so at that time. BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL. On Aug. 16, Rineyville Community Park will host the 2nd Annual Bluegrass Festival. This music is becoming more and more popular. Five award-winning bands will be there to play and sing for you. There is something to be said about being outdoors and listening to music that cannot be captured on CD. Bring your lawn chairs and family and find out what it’s all about. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL. St. John Catholic Church is having its annual Vacation Bible School Sunday through Thursday from 5:45 to 8:45 p.m. This year’s theme is “God’s Big Backyard.” For more information, please call Clarissa Yates, 862-3792, or e-mail cpyates@comcast.net. DOG TRAINING. Aug. 2 and 3, the All Miniature Pinscher Service Dog Rescue is hosting a dog training/behavior seminar with master dog trainer and behaviorist Sam Malatesta. The Canadian has been touring the United States for the past several years helping rescue and rehabilitate dogs that have been traumatized by abuse, neglect, puppy mill dogs, as well as common failed behaviors of household pets. If you own or foster a dog that suffers from aggression or shyness, this is an event you don’t want to miss. For more information on Sam Malatesta and his technique or to register for the weekend seminar, visit http://www.whosethedog.net. Proceeds of this event go to All Miniature Pinscher Service.
