Intimidation tactics
Recently you ran an opinion by The Washington Post about climate change researchers being harassed. I don’t know the truth of the piece, but I do know climate change skeptics are subjected to intimidation and/or disciplinary proceedings because of their views
A Daily Kos contributing editor suggested that Steve Milloy of www.junkscience.com, commit suicide or be euthanized for the crime of opposing global warming alarmism. The posting was removed.
The Weather Channel’s Dr. Heidi Cullen called for the decertification of weathermen who were skeptical of manmade global warming. Grist Magazine staff writer David Roberts said his solution would be war crimes trials, “Some sort of climate Nuremberg.”
Bill Nye “The Science Guy,” who appeared on The Rachel Maddow Show, labeled skeptics “unpatriotic.”
President Barack Obama’s top science advisor, Dr. John Holdren, told a congressman asking about climate change skeptics that “there are always heretics.” Heretics?
Californian opponents of gay marriage filed a lawsuit against Californians Against Hate whose website lists the names of 1,100 people and organizations contributing at least $5,000 to the Proposition 8 campaign that opposed gay marriage. The group also organized boycotts targeting the owner of three hotels and storage company owners.
Leftist union thugs harassed then superglued the doors of a popular Wisconsin grocery after it was discovered that individuals at the store donated to Gov. Scott Walker’s campaign last year. Union Grove, Wis., businesses were threatened with “public boycotts” by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Union.
Tea Party patriots in Wisconsin were collecting names to recall state Sen. Jim Holperin when a mob of union thugs harassed them and ripped up their petition. They were going to hold their petition drive at an area restaurant but the restaurant canceled after receiving more than 50 threatening calls — including threats to burn down their business. Wisconsin tea party protesters were harassed, bullied and threatened by a mob who showed up at their petition drive.
These are just a very small sampling of intimidation against conservative efforts. Conservatives know all about repressive intimidation tactics in an effort to punish those who believe differently and silence other American’s free speech. I would love to see The Post give them equal time but I will not hold my breath.
