George Edwin ‘Eddie’ Davis

George Edwin “Eddie” Davis, 52, of Cecilia died Saturday, June 28, 2008, at his home.

The Hardin County native was a 33-year employee of ADM, formerly Moormans Feed. He was a dedicated deacon and Sunday school teacher at Franklin Crossroads Baptist Church. He served on three mission trips to Kenya, Africa, where he shared the gospel and farming skills with the tribesmen. Eddie was a member of the Order of Kentucky Colonels and a well-known farmer in Hardin County.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Davis, on May 19, 2008.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Hay Davis; three daughters, Sara Meredith and Greg of Clarkson, Suzie Hart and Chris of Georgetown and Shannon Childers and Justin of Eastview; his father, G.A. Davis of Cecilia; two sisters, Kandy Swanson and Jay of Mentica, Calif., and Pam Romero and Frank of Louisville; six grandchildren, McKenzie Bryant, Nathan Meredith, Carson Meredith, Autumn Hart, Madisen Childers and Hannah Childers; and his grandmother, Kathleen Johnson Booker of White Mills.

The funeral is at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Franklin Crossroads Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continues after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Phillip Eugene Gardner

Phillip Eugene Gardner, 72, of Radcliff, died Thursday, June 26, 2008, at his residence.

Mr. Gardner was retired from the Army after having served in Vietnam. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10281.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Gardner, of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Kim Elizabeth Gardner of Elizabethtown and Karon Elizabeth Parrett and her husband, James, of Magnolia; and two grandchildren, James Eric Parrett and his wife, Summer, of Elizabethtown, and James Lincoln Parrett of Magnolia.

A memorial service is at 1 p.m. today in the chapel of Coffey & Chism Funeral Home in Vine Grove with burial to follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff.

Visitation begins at noon today at the funeral home. There will be a VFW service at 12:45 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Anna Lillian ‘Diddy’ Medley Howard

Anna Lillian “Diddy” Medley Howard, 87, of New Haven, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, at her home.

She was born Jan. 30, 1921, in Sulfur Lick. The daughter of the late John Thornton and Martha Frances Edelen Medley, she was a homemaker and a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in New Haven and the St. Catherine Catholic Church altar society. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who loved her family deeply. She was a graduate of St. Frances High School in Loretto.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milburn “Boogie” Howard Sr.; a daughter, Anna Bridget Howard; a son, Michael Wayne “Mike” Howard; two brothers, Jake Medley and Bobby Medley; and two sisters, Burnedine Blair and Mary Rayber.

Survivors include three sons, Milburn Howard Jr. of Athertonville, Jim Howard of Icetown and David Howard of New Haven; two daughters, Lois Wimsett of New Haven and Judy Osbourne of New Haven; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces nephews, cousins and friends.

A Mass of Christian burial is at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Catherine Catholic Church with the Rev. Scott Wimsett officiating. Burial will be in St. Catherine Catholic Church Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 N. Main St., New Haven, and after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

A prayer service is at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may be sent to Hospice of Nelson County or St. Catherine Cemetery.


William Glenn Leffler

William Glenn Leffler, 48, of Cub Run, died Saturday, June 28, 2008, in Horse Cave.

Survivors include a brother, Richard Conley Leffler of Cub Run.

The funeral is at 1 p.m. CDT Tuesday at Brooks Funeral Home in Munfordville. Interment will be in the Thompson family cemetery in Cub Run.

Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Tuesday.


Edward A. Lipsey

Edward A. Lipsey, 71, formally of Sonora, died Friday June 27, 2008, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville. A private graveside service was held at Sonora Cemetery.

Manakee Funeral Home in Sonora was in charge of arrangements.
