Jury trial in Layla Johnson's death set for March 18

The January jury trial in the death of 2-year-old Layla Johnson has been continued until March 18.

According to police, the child's babysitter, Ashley N. Chapman, 28, of Vine Grove, inflicted a beating Jan. 25 that eventually caused Johnson’s death several days later at University Hospital in Louisville.

Chapman, who is being held as a state inmate at Daviess County Detention Center for probation violations, appeared Monday in Hardin Circuit Court for a pretrial conference.
