HARDIN COUNTY — Coming home from a family vacation should be a restful time. But returning to a home that has been burglarized could add undue stress to a joyful occasion.

According to the Insurance Information Institute, more than 2.15 million homes are burglarized each year. Residential break-ins constitute 65 percent of that number, with the majority occurring in July and August when people are regularly on vacation.
