I take this opportunity to thank all the good folks in Elizabethtown and Hardin County, who so generously support the Elizabethtown Lions Club in so many ways. Most recently the community greatly supported the E’town Lions Annual Chicken Barbecue on Aug. 17.
Since its inception in 1941, the Elizabethtown Lions Club has been active in supporting this community; our international motto is “We Serve”. The E’town Lions serve our community in many capacities, assisting with eyesight preservation and also helping approximately 30 community organizations. The Lions cannot serve well without the excellent support of the media in our community.
I thank the following radio stations for their public service announcements regarding our recent chicken barbecue, KMO Country 99.3, 107.3 The Point, ESPN Radio 101.5, ESPN Radio 1430 AM, Big Cat 105.5, WAKY 103.5, WQXE Quicksie 98.3, & WULF The Wolf 94.3. I also thank The News-Enterprise and the Hardin County Independent for listing the barbecue in the calendars of community events.
Our thanks also goes to Elizabethtown High School for use of its facilities, to the city of Elizabethtown for providing a trash truck and for the use of Veterans Park to cook the chickens, to Feeding America Kentucky’s Heartland for storing the chickens and for providing a truck to support the barbecue and to Amazing Glazin Donuts for the pre-barbecue treats for the Lions volunteers. I especially want to thank all the good folks who purchased tickets and ate with us. The members of the Elizabethtown Lions Club are your friends and neighbors and we work diligently to serve the community faithfully to do good things for those in need.
For golfers in the community, please contact Lion Jimmie Lee, 270-300-2811, or Lion Bill Shinkle 270-765-7559, regarding the upcoming, Sept. 20, Charity Golf Scramble; we greatly appreciate sponsors for the event as well as golfers. Many thanks.
