Lonnie Rhea Douglas Sr., 73, of Elizabethtown, died Friday, March 23, 2012, at his residence.
He was a native of Hart County, a member of Morrison Masonic Lodge No. 76 F&AM and a Kentucky Colonel. He served as a board member of the Hardin County History Museum, a member of the Hardin County Historical Society and a member of the National Clock Collectors Guild. He was honored as a distinguished alumnus for Hardin County Schools, given the Lifetime Achievement Award by Gov. Martha Layne Collins and was a lifetime member of the National Parent Teacher Association. He was a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church for 62 years and retired from The Kroger Co. after 45 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence L. and Rose Florence Turner Douglas; and a brother, Norman Douglas.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Ellen Douglas; three sons, Michael Ray (Ann) Douglas of Elizabethtown, Anthony B. Douglas of Hodgenville and Lonnie Rhea (Megan) Douglas Jr. of Louisville; a daughter, Stephanie (David) Young of Louisville; eight grandchildren, Jordan and Nathan Douglas, Jessica and Bette Douglas, Lonnie Rhea Douglas III, Tanner Douglass, Cody Bishop and Bryce Young; two great-grandchildren; and two special nieces, Natalia Estes and Lisa Douglas.
The funeral was Tuesday at Locust Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Odis Weaver, the Rev. Randy Smith and Bro. Raymond Ward officiating. Burial was in Shadow Oaks Cemetery on the family farm in Hardin County.
