HARDIN COUNTY — A Hardin County man was arrested and charged with arson Wednesday, a week after his 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo was found ablaze in the vicinity of 1600 Miller Road.

According to Hardin County Sheriff’s Office Executive Officer Greg Lowe, Eric Brandon Gilkey used an accelerant to roast his car in an attempt to defraud an insurer.

Valley Creek Fire Department’s Lt. Dillon Turner and sheriff’s office detectives investigated the fire.

Gilkey is charged with arson and burning personal property to defraud his insurer. He’s being held at the Hardin County jail on a $10,000 bond.

Lowe said Gilkey confessed to the crime.
