Elizabethtown Mayor Tim Walker, who was in his first term as mayor, was laid to rest Tuesday afternoon at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.

Walker, who spent 14 years on city council before winning the mayoral seat in 2010, died Friday morning of a heart attack. He was 54.

First Christian Church was packed for the funeral at the 900-seat North Miles Street facility. Extra seating was set up outside of the sanctuary for attendees to watch the funeral on monitors.

FCC Pastor Stuart Jones said "this has been shocking for so many because it is the loss of a wonderful man.''

The song "Go Rest High On The Mountain'' was the first music played at the funeral.

Brent Hall, a Family Court Judge, asked, "What made Tim so special? He had one thing, one word, and that was love.''
