Former Paducah Tilghman High School players Kris Jackson and Cody Shultz scored 14 points each to lead the visiting Western Kentucky Community & Technical College Stars to a 67-65 win over the Elizabethtown Community & Technical College Barons on Friday night at T.K. Stone Middle School in Elizabethtown.
Former Muhlenberg County center Carlton Mason added nine points, four rebounds and one block off the bench for the Stars, who will host the Barons (1-3) in February in a return meeting between the only Kentucky Community & Technical College System (KCTCS) members with collegiate athletics.
Ex-Elizabethtown forward Chris McDonald led the Barons with a game-high 19 points and 11 rebounds for his second double-double in three games. Forward Rob Pittman, McDonald’s former Spalding University teammate, added seven points and game highs in rebounds (16) and blocks (four).
Former Elizabethtown forward Chris Ulis made 7-of-8 free throws and finished with 13 points and seven rebounds for ECTC, which also got solid performances from reserve guards Derek Pfeiffer and Cody Crim. Pfeiffer hit a game-high three 3-pointers and finished with nine points, while Crim had a game-high six assists. Pfeiffer is a former Elizabethtown standout, while Crim played at Central Hardin.
The Barons return to action at 4 p.m. today on the road in Centralia, Ill. against the Kaskaskia College Blue Devils (0-3), who feature former North Hardin star guard Jermaine Ruttley and ex-North Hardin and Fort Knox forward Jauan Akins.
