MEN'S COLLEGE HOOPS: Southern Tech beats ECTC Barons (11/30)

Former University of Iowa recruit Anthony Lindauer and reserve L.J. Johnson scored 15 points each to lead the Southern Tech Academy Wildcats to a 73-66 win Thursday night against the Elizabethtown Community & Technical College Barons at T.K. Stone Middle School in Elizabethtown.

Lindauer also had two assists and seven rebounds for the Wildcats, who outrebounded the Barons by 18. Johnson also had six rebounds, two assists and a game-high three steals.

Forward Avery Ugba added a double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, one block) for Southern Tech, which played at St. Catharine College’s junior varsity team on Wednesday in the first game of its Kentucky trip. Southern Tech also plays at Lindsey Wilson College’s JV team tonight and faces Campbellsville University’s JV team Sunday at Lindsey Wilson.

Barons forward Chris McDonald, a former Elizabethtown prep standout, scored a game-high 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field. He also had three assists, two steals and matched forward Rob Pittman with a team-high seven rebounds. Pittman added 12 points and two assists.

Guard Avery Buckles made three 3-pointers and on his way to 13 points, while guard Cody Crim had 12 points, two steals and a game-high six assists off the bench.

The Barons (3-6) return to action at 7 p.m. Wednesday when they host Campbellsville in a JV game for the visiting Tigers (3-4).
