The News-Enterprise ELIZABETHTOWN — Vanessa Bohleber-Higdon doesn’t have time for butterflies. Even though she is about to climb into the cage at the National Guard Armory on Saturday during Hardrock MMA 13 in Kentucky’s first professional women’s mixed martial arts fight, she has other things that need her attention — namely the entire event. “It’s nice to be in the first women’s professional fight in Kentucky,” said Bohleber-Higdon, a fight promoter from Elizabethtown, who will take on Heather Corder. “I think it’s great we’re hosting the first women’s professional fight. We’ve had a lot of pro fights on our cards lately and it puts us above the average promotion that puts on amateur fights here and there.” Bohleber-Higdon’s fight will be the main event on a fight card that features 18 bouts, including three professional fights. Bohleber-Higdon defeated Corder in 32 seconds in an amateur match, but Corder expects things to be much closer this time. “I like Vanessa, but once we get in the cage it’s a different story,” Corder said. “I have been hitting the gym everyday, twice a day, and my game has tightened up a lot.” The event is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Doors open at 6:30. Discount tickets can be purchased prior to the event at www.HardRockFight.com or at Hero’s Sports Cards in Elizabethtown.
