MOAA members receive recruiting command update

-A A +A

The Fort Knox Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America held its monthly meeting at the MOAA Clubhouse on Fort Knox.

Col. Heather Garrett, chief of staff of Recruiting Command, was the guest speaker. She briefed that recruiting across the nation continues to enlist recruits who meet the highest standards. Interestingly, less than one in four of today’s 17 to 24 year olds are qualified to join the Army. Those we do recruit excel academically and physically and 96 percent of them are high school graduates. Last year recruiting command’s goal was to recruit 50,000 personnel; this year that goal has been increased significantly and the command is confident it will again meet or exceed the new goal. Col. Garrett’s briefing was informative and reinforced their important mission which, in turn, continues to support the local and surrounding community.

The Chapter holds its meetings on the third Wednesday of the month at its clubhouse in building 2377 on Fort Knox. MOAA always is looking for new members with membership open to officers and former officers of all services. For information, call the chapter office, (502) 626-4090.
