Two weeks ago, I was able to walk into the school gym that houses my precinct – the very school gym where I played basketball, received awards on the stage and now take my own students for PE class – and cast my vote in the primary for the presidential election. I was able to vote for a woman. I will never forget this moment. I will never forget that our state was ready to embrace this change. I will take pride in that. I can only hope that it is a sign of what is to come.
