MOWW Hosts JROTC cadets

-A A +A

The Fort Knox Chapter of the Military Order of the World Wars held its monthly meeting Feb. 19  at its clubhouse on Fort Knox.

The chapter annually presents awards to ROTC and Junior ROTC cadets at Fort Knox and all of western Kentucky. The awards recognize exceptional performance in military science courses or at the spring Leader Training Course at Fort Knox. Each year, the chapter invites local cadets to brief chapter members on their impressions of how the program has helped them in their academic and personal lives. This year’s cadets, from Fort Knox High School, were Junior Cadet 1st Lt. Jordan Almeida, freshman Cadet Cpl. Heather Arthur, senior Cadet Lt. Col. Troy Boxrucker and senior Cadet Maj. Kaitlyn Basnett. In their briefings, each cadet praised the program for developing in them a sense of responsibility, improved public speaking, increased confidence, teamwork, organizational structure and discipline. This is the same praise that is heard from the remainder of the ROTC elements in Hardin County and across the state.

The Fort Knox Chapter will hold its next monthly meeting March 19 in the clubhouse in Building 2377 at Fort Knox. For information about the organization, call Larry Herzog, 351-6433.
