-A A +A

Mu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International recently met at Back Home restaurant. Hosted by members, Jane and Pascal Bailey, the meeting place offered the opportunity to conduct business and enjoy fellowship over lunch.

Byrle Thomas shared a moment of inspiration reminding those attending that money, fame or accomplishments do not make people memorable to others, but rather kindness and caring attitudes make lasting impressions.

Laura Pierce-Foster distributed new directories. She is working on a website for Mu Chapter. The 2013 budget, presented by Treasurer Shelia Wilkinson was adopted.

Lin Linder introduced guest speaker Janice James, a past Alpha Gamma state president from Xi Chapter. James recently served on the International Educational Excellence committee, which developed seven goals for the society. Schools for Africa and supporting early career educators are goals the Mu Chapter is focusing on this biennium.

The ExCEL program, Hardin County Schools teen parent and child development program, was the recipient of donations. Pat Bohannon thanked members for their support.

The next meeting, March 9 at Central Hardin High School, will feature a silent auction with the theme “Pretty things”. The proceeds will finance a grant-in-aid to a high school senior girl.
