Two new branches under construction

Two new library branches in Nelson County are on schedule to open this spring.

The New Haven branch will open about six weeks before a location across the county in Bloomfield.

“We are excited to report we are on time and on budget on both branches,” said Val Downs, president of the Nelson County Public Library Board of Trustees. “We have not encountered any setback financially or the time standpoint.”

The New Haven branch is expected to cost $1.3 million with a projected price tag of $1.303 million for the Bloomfield branch. EH Construction is responsible for both projects, which will replace smaller locations in the communities.

The main branch in Bardstown relocated from the Court Square to the former hospital building in April 2007.
