More than 10 days have passed since a shooting at a private party in Radcliff left one man dead and three injured. Although police say they have spoken to numerous individuals who were at the scene that night, no arrests have been made.
Radcliff Police Department responded at 3 a.m. Nov. 2 to a commercial building at 355 Shelby Ave. in reference to shots being fired. A private party was being held there, police said.
RPD spokesman Bryce Shumate said very few party attendees remained at the scene when police arrived.
“We think a lot of people fled the scene for their personal safety,” Shumate said Wednesday.
Responding officers found Darren Johnson, 47, of Radcliff, dead and two more injured. According to Shumate, police were advised about an hour later of a fourth victim, who was transported privately to Hardin Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Though officials have identified Johnson, they have not released the names of those injured during the shooting. On Wednesday, Shumate said he could not identify the surviving victims.
Shumate said police have spoken to a “person of interest.” He did not release any details about the individual.
In addition, Shumate said detectives also have interviewed a number of party attendees but are continuing to look for anyone who may have information about the shooting.
“It is concerning that nobody seems to know exactly what happened,” he said Wednesday, “or are not being forthcoming about exactly what happened.”
In media reports immediately following the incident, police referred to the building on Shelby Avenue as a “private club.”
On Wednesday, Shumate said the property owner leases the building to a couple, who in turn sub-lease it to other individuals to hold private parties.
The investigation is ongoing, he said. The department asks anyone with information about this investigation to call its tip line at 270-351-TIPS.
The line is not recorded and callers may remain anonymous, Shumate said.
