North Black Branch Road reopens to traffic

North Black Branch Road reopened to traffic Wednesday morning, more than 18 months after closing for construction on Flex Films, a new manufacturing facility.

In November 2011, railroad and state economic development officials started the process to move forward with construction on a rail spur and railroad crossing to accommodate heavy shipments of materials and supplies to Flex Films. The city of Elizabethtown closed the road between Altec Drive and Hackberry Road in Cecilia in October 2011.

City Engineer Scott Reynolds said all safety devices, signs and railroad crossings were in place so the road was opened to traffic. The city cautions drivers as they travel the area.
