North Hardin High School faculty and students are hoping to bring a love of the arts to Hardin County.
North Hardin is hosting its first Night of the Arts from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the school cafeteria. The event features visual arts and musical and dramatic performances, all from students.
The school has sponsored concerts and theater productions before, but faculty members in the fine arts department were looking for a new event to showcase all facets of the arts, said James Beard, head of the fine arts department.
“We just want to build this program up,” Beard said.
The event is $3, and attendees will be able to view a gallery of artwork and watch instrumental, choral and dramatic performances from students, he said.
Child care will be provided for $1.
Beard said he hopes the event will promote the arts in Hardin County and give students and families a chance to attend an event of this type. Many don’t have the opportunity, he said.
The event is “a baby step in the right direction,” Beard said.
Dress for the event is semi-formal or business casual and refreshments will be served.
After the event, there is a jazz and percussion band concert in Ron Bevars Gymnasium at North Hardin.
