North Hardin, LaRue County high schools win big in battle of the bands

North Hardin and LaRue County high schools won the day at their respective band competitions last weekend.

LaRue County was named grand champion in the Taylor County Marching Invitational at Taylor County High School. The Band of Hawks also received best overall guard, as well as first place, best guard and best percussion in Class AA.

North Hardin was named grand champion in the Bands of America regional competition at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium in Louisville. The band received first place in outstanding music performance and outstanding general effect. It also received first place in Class AA and outstanding music performance and Visual Performance in Class AA.

Central Hardin's band also competed in the BOA regional, and placed eighth overall.

John Hardin placed third in the Louisville Classic at Louisville Male High School.

Elizabethtown’s band didn’t compete.

LaRue County hosts the Lincoln Days Invitational on Saturday.

Elizabethtown competes Saturday at the Blue and Gold Championship of Marching Bands at Morehead State University, while North and Central aren’t competing this weekend.
