White Mills Kathleen Booker, 369-7101 SCHOOL NEWS. Donuts for Dad was a big success Nov. 5 and 6 at Lakewood Elementary School. Dads had breakfast with their child. OUT AND ABOUT. Kathy and I visited my sister, Anna Fern Best, last Saturday at her home. Elnoah and Kathy Gragson went to a football game last Saturday in Elizabethtown to watch their grandson, Zack Young, play. His team won and will play in the Super Bowl. The White Mills community dinner was Nov. 8 in the Christian Camp dining room. Thanks to Bobby and Shirley Williams for bringing me a plate of food from the dinner. Congratulations to Hezzie Williams for being honored by the White Mills Civic League and who was presented a plaque. SYMPATHY. Sympathy to the family of Brenda Simpson Mabe of Sonora. There will be a community service at 6 p.m. today at Stephensburg Missionary Baptist Church. Brother Baker will be the speaker. Everyone is invited. GET-WELL WISHES. Get-well wishes to Gladys Givans and Mildred Akers. Get-well wishes to those who have the flu and all others who are ill. CALL. I was happy to receive a phone call last Sunday afternoon from LeRoy Skees of Iowa. BIRTHDAY. Some of Ervin and Violet Stith’s children were down last Sunday to celebrate her birthday. Violet appreciates the phone calls, cards and gifts received for her birthday. COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES. On Nov. 22, there will be a community Thanksgiving service at 6:30 p.m. at White Mills Baptist Church. On Nov. 29, a Christmas parade is at 5:30 p.m. with set up at 5 p.m., chili dinner at 6 p.m., and bridge lighting at 7:30 p.m. with a reception to follow. Dec. 6 is the community Christmas cantata and on Dec. 19 White Mills Fire Department will host Santa. Desserts, cookies, etc. are needed for the dinner and reception. For information, contact Dot Graham, 369-8118. Monies collected for the chili dinner will be given to the Family Resource Center at Lakewood Elementary School. The White Mills Fire Department and Civic League prepare for these events. Helpers are needed for the dinner and reception. If you can serve or clean up, please volunteer.
