Mildred Jenkins Akers
Mildred Jenkins Akers, 90, went to be with her Lord on Nov. 1, 2010, at the home of her daughter in White Mills.
She was born Aug. 2, 1920, to Clarence and Ella Jo Jenkins. Mildred retired from the Hardin County Schools system, having worked as a cook at Lynnvale and West Hardin high schools. She recently was honored at White Mills Christian Church for 70 years of membership. Very few Sundays found her any place but at church. She was well known for her kind and gentle spirit and her art of using the needle. Mildred loved to quilt and make pillow cases. Many people have her stitchery in their homes.
One of the great joys in her life was eating out, and she was known in many restaurants by her first name.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, William E. Akers; her parents; five brothers; two sisters; and a son-in-law, John D. Terry.
She leaves behind to celebrate her life a daughter, Martha J. Terry of White Mills; a son and daughter-in-law, James “Buddy” and Edna Akers, both of White Mills; five grandchildren, Carol and Tim Priddy of Sonora, Lisa and Greg Thomas and Laura and Scott Nall, all of Cecilia, Jim and Christine Akers of Paris, Ky., and Cindy Akers Richardson and Kent of White Mills; 13 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
The funeral is at 1 p.m. Thursday at White Mills Christian Church with Brother Tim Dennis officiating. Burial will follow in White Mills Community Cemetery.
Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and continues after 9 a.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.

Russow ‘Rudy’ Atcher
Russow “Rudy” Atcher, 75, of Vine Grove, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Atcher; parents, Carl and Harvalene Atcher and Herman and Louise Atcher; one brother, Jake Atcher; and grandparents Rusaw and Lena Atcher.
Survivors include one son, Tim Atcher and his wife, Debbie, of Radcliff; two daughters, Carlena Sheeran and her husband, Kevin, of Elizabethtown and Pam Basham and her husband, Neal, of Radcliff; two brothers, Randall Atcher of Jeffersonville, Ind., and Ricky Hinton of Louisville; two sisters, Martha Paul of North Carolina and Rita Nalley of Louisville; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, in the chapel of Coffey & Chism Funeral Home in Vine Grove with Chaplain Keith Taylor and Sam Young officiating. Burial will follow in Stovall United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5 until 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Thomas George Chahalis
Thomas George Chahalis, 74, of Radcliff, passed away Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at Woodland Terrace Nursing Facility, Elizabethtown.
Mr. Chahalis was a veteran of the U.S. Army, former owner of P & G Café and a member of Parthenon Masonic Lodge No. 1101 for more than 50 years.
He was preceded in death by one son, George Thomas Chahalis; and his parents, George and Faye Chahalis.
Survivors include his loving wife, Elizabeth Chahalis of Radcliff; two sons, Steven Chahalis and Michael Chahalis, both of New Jersey; one daughter, Tammi K. Cole of Radcliff; four grandchildren, Amanda Chahalis, Mitchell Chahalis, Michael Wright and Alexander Hale; friends and family of P & G Café; and cousins.
The funeral is at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, from the chapel of Coffey & Chism Funeral Home, Vine Grove, with burial with military honors to follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff.
Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday and after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The Rev. Edward L. Holthouser
The Rev. Edward L. Holthouser, of Niagara Falls, N.Y., formerly of Hardin County, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at his residence.
Survivors include his mother, Louise Young Misener; his wife, Cheryl Holthouser; and three children Larry Holthouser, Michelle Marohn and Robert Wagner.
The memorial service is at 2 p.m. EST Sunday at Glendale United Methodist Church, 118 Glendale-Hodgenville Road East, Glendale.
Bernita Lamkin Howell
Bernita Lamkin Howell, 91, of Hodgenville, passed away Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hodgenville and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Basil Howell; her parents, C.A. and Dessie Leasor Lamkin; a sister, Beatrice Lamkin; and a son-in-law, Ken Henderson.
She is survived by a daughter, Janice Henderson of Hodgenville; and three grandsons, Kenny (Karen) Henderson of Mount Sherman and Drew Henderson and Shaun Henderson, both of Hodgenville.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with the Rev. Mike Rodgers officiating. Burial will follow in Red Hill Cemetery in Hodgenville.

Rebecca S. ‘Becky’ Lickliter
Rebecca S. “Becky” Lickliter, 48, of Indianapolis, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at her home.
She was preceded in death by her father, Hays Ash.
She is survived by her mother, Roxie Nelson Ash; a sister, Sherry Sears; three brothers, Ronnie Lickliter, Wayne Ash and Rick Ash; and her grandmother, Elizabeth Ash of Elizabethtown.
Cremation was chosen with Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center in Indianapolis in charge of arrangements.
Charles William ‘Bill’ Padgett
Mr. Charles William “Bill” Padgett, 70, of Brandenburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at University Hospital in Louisville from injuries received in an automobile accident.
Mr. Padgett was preceded in death by his father and mother, Joseph Woodrow Padgett and Minnie Belle Thomas Sipes.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marie Whelan Padgett; two children, William Kelly (Lori) Padgett of Brandenburg and Pamela Marie Kasey of Flaherty; three grandchildren, Danielle (Josh) Travis, Austin Dale Kasey and Olivia Marie Kasey, all of Flaherty; two great-grandchildren, Grayson and Alexander Travis; one brother, Butch (Ann) Padgett of Payneville; three sisters, Linda (Harry) Jones and Brenda (Bernie) Durbin, all of Brandenburg, and Gaye (John) Thomas of Vine Grove; one stepbrother, Bill (Judy) Sipes of Lake Junaluska, N.C.; and three stepsisters, Angela Pike and Charlotte (Jack) Garner, all of Louisville, and Bonnie Mae Mueller of Hoschton, Ga.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Hager Funeral Home in Brandenburg with burial in St. George Cemetery.

Charles L. Watts, 78, of Glendale, passed away Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
He was a member of Victory Life Church and owner of the former C and W Market grocery store in Elizabethtown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Ilean Self Watts; and a brother, Billy Watts.
He is survived by his wife, Vera Dixon Watts of Glendale; a son, Chuck Watts of Elizabethtown; a daughter, Paula (Greg) Phillips of Elizabethtown; four stepdaughters, Anetta Crain, Linda (Carl) Thompson of Glendale, Judy (Larry) Young of Upton and Teresa Hawkins of Glendale; a granddaughter, Mindy Phillips of Elizabethtown; several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; three stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Ann Greer of Louisville and Velma (Carl) Crabtree of Elizabethtown.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday at Manakee Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with the Rev. Randall Austin officiating. Burial will be in Elizabethtown City Cemetery.
