David Brent Hughes Sr.
David Brent Hughes Sr., 54, of Elizabethtown, died there Monday, Nov. 3, 2008.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Hughes.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Sue Grubbs Hughes; three children, David Hughes, Aaron Hughes and Abigail Hughes, all of Elizabethtown; his mother, Glenda Hughes of Murray; one sister, Donna Gail Futrell of Murray; and a brother, Barry Hughes of Tuscaloosa, Ala.
There will be a memorial service at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at Gloryland Harvest Church, 757 S. Wood-land Drive, Radcliff.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
The family requests no flowers or food. If anyone feels led to contribute, any monetary gifts will be greatly appreciated by the family.

Donald ‘Donnie’ Lee Shive
Donald “Donnie” Lee Shive, 66, of Hodgenville, passed away, Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at Kindred Hospital in Louisville.
He was a heavy equipment operator, an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and an active participant at the Senior Citizen’s Center in Hodgenville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon “V.J.” and Stella Patton Shive; four sisters, Katherine Rice, Maxine Wilkerson, Rejinia Rose and Marjorie Shaheen; and four brothers, Charles Shive, Bruce Shive, Billy Shive and Larry Shive. He is survived by three daughters, Machelle McDowell and her husband, David, of Magnolia, LaVonna Shive of Elizabethtown and Pamela McClure of Louisville; a son, Donald Shive Jr. of Louisville; three sisters, Fern Carr and Gertrude Bennett, both of Louisville, and Rebecca Williams of Campbellsville; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with the Rev. Norm Brock officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Tabor Cemetery in Buffalo.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m. until time for services Thursday at the funeral home.

Mary Letitia Wininger Strawbridge, 96, of Elizabethtown, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Clark County, Ind., and was a Daughter of the American Revolution. Her husband was the manager of Newberry’s on the square for 35 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Strawbridge; a daughter, Melva Hines; her parents, George M. and Jennie May Tuttle Wininger; two brothers, Marvin T. Wininger and Frank Wininger; and two sisters, Zella O. Henry and Bess Russell.
She is survived by one son, George Strawbridge of Indianapolis; one granddaughter, Edith L. Hickey of St. Helena Island, S.C.; and three great-grandchildren, Daniel Hickey of Grayson and David Hickey and Samuel Hickey, both of St. Helena Island.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Burial will follow in Hardin Memorial Park.

Lonnie B. Thompson, age 82, of Eastview, passed away Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at The Thompson Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore. He was a native of Scottsboro, Ala. He was a World War II Army veteran and was retired from Johnson Control after 30 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Stone Thompson; his parents, James and Annie Mae Venable Thompson; three sisters, Linda Thompson, Mary Thompson and Myrtle Mount; and a brother, Billy Thompson. He is survived by two sons, Robert Thompson and Clyde Thompson; two daughters, Doris Hansford and Martha Pence; a stepson, Charles Hodges; three stepdaughters, Judith Roth, Mary Herndon and Helen Hodges; two brothers, David Thompson and Leonard Thompson; four sisters, Hazel Davis, Rena Miller, Paulette Wilborn and Joyce Holt; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at the Manakee Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Burial with military honors will be at the Bethany Cemetery in Louisville.
