Sixteen years after pink ribbons first appeared in a coordinated campaign to raise awareness of — and money for — the fight against breast cancer, miraculous progress has been made.
The Living Ribbon created Thursday night at Hardin Memorial Hospital is evidence that the awareness campaign is working. More than 130 women, all wearing pink, stood shoulder to shoulder on the roof of the parking garage to form one more giant pink ribbon.
The odds of a woman developing breast cancer in her lifetime are 1 in 8.
