Parties have changed

A writer to the editor on Thursday attempted to portray the Republican Party as the party of civil rights, and the Democrats as racists who supported slavery, created the Ku Klux Klan, etc. It begs the question: Why is Mitt Romney getting less than 1 percent of the black vote? The answer is simple. When the slaves were freed, when Jim Crow was the law of the land, et al, Republicans were the progressive party and Democrats were the conservatives.
