George Stuart Allen

George Stuart Allen, 70, of Vine Grove, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.

He is survived by his wife, Sue G. Allen of Vine Grove; two sons, Glenn Allen of Radcliff and Bruce Allen of Vine Grove; and two sisters, Marsha Bowen of El Paso, Texas, and Elizabeth Tiedeman of Lake City, Minn.

There is no service or visitation.

Jane Graham

 Jane Graham, 77, of Radcliff, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

Arrangements are incomplete at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff.

 

Bertha C. Wayland Grimes

Bertha C. Wayland Grimes, 96, of Mount Sherman, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at her residence.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Judd and Carolyn Gibson; a son, Ricky Grimes; and a stepson, John William Grimes Jr.

The funeral is at 2 p.m. Thursday at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia.

Visitation begins at 3 p.m. today and continues after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

 

 Larry Gene Grimes

Larry Gene Grimes, 65, of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at North Hardin Health and Rehabilitation Center.

The Hardin County native was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of St. James Catholic Church and worked at Dana Corp.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Dewey and Mary Katherine Werth Grimes; and by two brothers, William “Doll” Grimes and James Grimes.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Pearl Grimes; three sons, Michael (Connie) Grimes of Louisville, James Grimes of Elizabethtown and Kevin (Ann) Grimes of Lexington; two daughters, Larri (Jay) Housh of Elizabethtown and Triniti (Kedric) Grimes-Perkins of Franklin, Ind.; two brothers, Franklin Grimes of Hodgenville and Freddie (Mavie) Grimes of Elizabethtown; 12 grandchildren; the mother of his children, Claudia Grimes of Elizabethtown; one stepson, Michael (Brenda) Nichols of Cecilia; and one stepdaughter, Viola Thomas of Tampa, Fla.

The memorial service is at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.

Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may go to the American Cancer Society.

 Alan D. Hoskinson

Alan D. Hoskinson, 74, of Elizabethtown, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, at his home.  

He was a Jefferson County native and U.S. Army veteran. He also sold real estate with Lanz Reality Co. He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Elizabethtown Lions Club and Hardin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

He was preceded in death by his parents, W. Boyd and Catherine Marie (Drury) Hoskinson; and one son, Joseph Alan Hoskinson.  

He is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie Hoskinson of Elizabethtown; a daughter, Kathy Staton of Prospect; a son, Albert Hoskinson and his partner, Samuel Nugen, of Louisville; a stepdaughter, Leah Williams (Mark) Best of Bradenton, Fla.; a brother, Byron W. “Pete” Hoskinson of Louisville; four grandchildren, Teddy Staton, Kara Staton, Benjamine Best and Marlea Best; and two great-grandchildren.    

The funeral is at 4 p.m. Friday at Manakee Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with the Rev. Gary Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Elizabethtown City Cemetery.  

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at Manakee Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.  

The family request memorial contributions be given to Elizabethtown Lions Club or Hardin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Fred C. Mackey of Elizabethtown died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at Helmwood Healthcare Center.

Eugene McStoots

Eugene McStoots, 68, of Hodgenville, formerly of Leitchfield, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at Elizabethtown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Elizabethtown.  

He was preceded in death by his mother, Essie (Cook) McStoots; three brothers, Paul, Charlie and Thomas McStoots; and one sister, Mary McStoots.

He is survived by his ex-wife of 32 years, Sally McStoots of Hodgenville; two daughters, Jeanette McStoots of Hodgenville and Kathy Burton of Elizabethtown; a son, Ronald Gene McStoots of Elizabethtown; two stepchildren, Mervil McStoots of Caneyville and Brenda Grimes of Richmond; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six brothers, Shelby, Glenn, Thurman, Henry, Ernest and EarlyRay McStoots.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at Manakee Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with the Rev. Elbert Peters officiating. Burial will be in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Virginia Maude Meredith

Virginia Maude Meredith, 88, of Hodgenville, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., passed away Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Clyde J. Meredith.

She is survived by two daughters, Kathryn (Terry) Spalding of Elizabethtown and Jeannette (Richard) Smith of Benton, Mo.; grandchildren, Ashley, Evan and Whitney Spalding, Matthew and Andrew Smith and Vivienne Lessl.

Services were held at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.

 

Gladys Marie ‘Gladydoo’ Richardson

Gladys Marie “Gladydoo” Richardson, 77, of Irvington, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2010.

 Survivors include a son, Joe E. Richardson; a brother, Carl B. Mitcham; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Alexander Funeral Home in Irvington.

 

Dorothy M. Stillwell

Dorothy M. Stillwell, 87, of Cecilia, passed away Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, at Kensington Manor in Elizabethtown.  

She was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Stephensburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Evan T. Stillwell; her parents, Elmer and Agnus (Miller) Wood; and a grandson, Jason Emrick.  

She is survived by a son, Evan Franklin Stillwell of Cecilia; three daughters, Wanda (Raymond) Humphrey of Cecilia, Joyce (Harley) Givan of Eastview, and Barbara (Leonard) Potter of Radcliff; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral is at 1 p.m. today, Oct. 13, at Manakee Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Brother Elbert Peters officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferies Family Cemetery.   

Visitation continues from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.

 

Pauline Powell Thurman

Pauline Powell Thurman, 78, of Sonora, passed away Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, in Fort Pierce, Fla.
