Alternative methods not safer

This is a response to a letter in the Oct. 13 edition of The News-Enterprise about the proposed pipeline. The writers say the pipeline products are combustible and flammable. This is true, but one needs to consider the alternative methods of transporting these products, which would be truck, train or ship. The probability of an accident is much higher by these methods than by pipeline. The 24-inch pipe is very strong and the only way it could be damaged or broken is by something the size of a bulldozer.
