Marcella Olliges Brangers
Marcella Olliges Brangers, 98, of Louisville, returned to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital.
She was a faithful servant of St. Polycarp Catholic Church, also known as St. Peter the Apostle.
She was retired president of A.L. Hansen Paint and Metal Shop Inc.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Brangers; a son, Gerald Brangers; and a son-in-law, Robert Strickland.
She is survived by two sons, James J. Brangers Sr. (Marcella) and Elmer Brangers (Anacletus); four daughters, Agnes Small (Bud), Celestine Strickland, Irene McCrumb (Chester) and Therese Hungerford (Robert); 27 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; 54 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter the Apostle Church, 7718 Columbine Drive, Louisville, with burial in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Keenan Funeral Home, 4724 Dixie Highway, at Rockford Lane.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mass of the Air and Little Sisters of the Poor.
Sondra Joyce Dillard Van Horne
Sondra Joyce Dillard Van Horne, 69, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, in San Rafael, Calif. She fought a strong and courageous battle with cancer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Van Horne; her brother, Charles; and her father, Everett R. Dillard.
She is survived by her mother, Hazel Thompson Dillard; her daughter, Jo Ann Van Horne; her son, John Van Horne; and her grandchildren, cousins and aunts.
Sondra was born in Fort Knox on May 26, 1939. Her childhood residences ranged from Alaska to Florida and many places in between while her father served in the Army.
Sondra graduated from Elizabethtown High School in 1957. She moved to Marin County, Calif., in 1962 and later graduated from Marin Community College with a degree as a medical assistant. She and her husband, John, ran a portable X-ray business and were involved with the Las Gallinas Yacht Club, where they loved to go boating.
Sondra was a passionate animal lover and loved to travel with her friends and family. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her mother Hazel, daughter Jo Ann, son John, and grandchildren, Rick, Terry, Johanna, John, Jesse, Justin and Shay and her many friends and family members.
A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at Grahamton Cemetery in Meade County.
