Elizabethtown Police Department Detective Pete Chytla was given a distinguished service award Tuesday.
He received the award during the Elizabethtown City Council meeting Tuesday for his work on the arrest of Daniel Paynter, 56, on charges of murdering his wife, 35-year-old Lori Paynter. Her body was found in Elizabethtown in December 2002.
Daniel Paynter was arraigned two weeks ago in Ohio.
EPD Deputy Chief Carl Bee said the case presented challenges, such as crossing multiple jurisdictions and moving slowly in its prosecution.
