Commercial Vehicle Enforcement officers are investigating the death of a Louisville man found lying in the roadway near Interstate 65 mile-marker 98.
Lashon Smith, 24, was unresponsive July 15 in the right lane of I-65 and airlifted to University Hospital in Louisville where he was admitted in critical condition, according to a news release from CVE Region 2 in Louisville.
At 12:19 a.m. July 22, the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office contacted Kentucky State Police Post 4 to notify officers of Smith’s death. According to CVE, a motive remains unknown, but a preliminary investigation indicates Smith jumped from a vehicle traveling north.
Foul play is not suspected. Officer Daniel Brown is leading the ongoing investigation.
