JOOI stands for Junior Optimist Octagon International and is the umbrella organization that links local Optimist JOOI Clubs to others throughout North America. Each JOOI Club has an adult advisor who is involved in the day-to-day operations of a JOOI Club. The club advisor attends meetings and projects what the club does and oversees all aspects of it. Junior clubs are for youth ages 10 to 13. These members elect officers and plan their projects with help from the advisor. This particular age group focuses on learning leadership skills, serving the needs of others and does more social events with other club members. Community Service is the basis of JOOI Clubs.
