The package liquor license obtained by E.W. James & Sons supermarket before its November closure could revert back to the state early next year.
Tom Reynolds, Elizabethtown’s Alcoholic Beverage Control administrator, said the license expires Jan. 31. Reynolds said it is unlikely the company could renew the license because it no longer is an active business in the city.
The store closed because of declining sales and the property is now up for sale. Reynolds expects the license to return to the state unless the property is identified for a new use by the company.
In that case, the license would be declared vacant and an application process would be launched to find a new licensee.
