Just like the first, the second Penguin Plunge encourages area residents to donate cash in exchange for the sight of brave souls leaping into icy water.
The effort supports Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana, which is aimed at providing financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship education to students from third grade through high school.
Last year’s event drew about 20 participants and raised more than $9,000 for program expenses, such as learning materials.
