Italian-born guitarist Peppino D'Agostino will be featured Saturday as a part of Trinity Music Productions Guitar Masters Series 11.
After moving to America, D'Agostino lived in California for many years and performs around the world. He’s not only a guitarist but also a composer, singer, teacher, entertainer, arranger and collaborator. He often sings in both English and Italian.
He was described as “a guitarist’s guitarist” by “Acoustic Guitar” magazine and was voted best acoustic guitarist in the “Guitar Player” magazine readers’ choice awards in 2007.
He plays in a variety of styles such as Brazilian, Irish, country, blues, ragtime and classical.
On his website, www.peppinodagostino.com, he compares his music to the food of his home country Italy.
“If you only know about tomatoes, garlic and basil, you will only make a certain kind of sauce but if you know about maybe thyme, parsley, onions and olives, you make a different kind of recipe,” D'Agostino said. “But you have to know how to mix those elements with discretion and elegance.”
The performance is 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center at John Hardin High School. Tickets are $15.
Go to www.acousticguitarmasters.com or call (270) 325-3958 for tickets and information.
