Two others injured in shooting

By Kelly Cantrall

A person was killed Saturday morning in a shooting in Radcliff. Two others were wounded in the incident.

Hardin Memorial Hospital later treated a fourth shooting victim, and it’s unknown whether the person’s injuries stemmed from the same incident, Radcliff Police Department spokesman Bryce Shumate said.

RPD responded to a call at about 3 a.m., Shumate said. Officers found one person dead and two wounded at 355 Shelby Ave., which is a private club with no alcohol license, he said.

Shumate wouldn’t release the names of the deceased or injured. The extent of the injuries wasn’t released. One person was taken to University Hospital in Louisville.

While at the scene, officers heard shots fired nearby, and Kentucky State Police responded to that scene.

Trooper Brandon Brooks responded to an apartment at 430 Wagon Wheel Trail, where Brooks pursued and arrested Zachary T. Goodwin, 22, of Radcliff, KSP spokesman Jeff Gregory said. Goodwin was arrested on charges of alcohol intoxication, fleeing or evading police in the second degree, criminal mischief in the third degree, and possession of synthetic cannibinoid agonists, commonly known as spice.

Shumate said KSP didn’t find anyone injured, and didn’t know if the incident and arrest at Wagon Wheel Trail was related to the shooting on Shelby Avenue.

Shumate said a shooting victim came in to HMH about an hour after officers responded to Shelby Avenue. He said it was unknown if that person was involved in that shooting or a separate incident.

Shumate said investigators are looking for witnesses who might have been at the club at the time.

“Most people fled the scene before we arrived,” he said.
