A Loram rail grinding machine creates a cloud of smoke Monday morning as it works south of Sonora on the CSX Railroad. The machine's grinders reprofile the rail head for smoother passage of trains.

A shower of sparks fills the underside of the machine. The machine also carries water to extinguish spot fires from the grinder.
