Poetry Contest

A poetry contest hosted by The Bookstore ended with a local youngster from Parkway Elementary School taking home the highest honors. Desire' Hopkins,10, won the grand prize with her poem "Where I'm From."


Second place went to Theresa Money for her original work, "Full Circle." Michael Conovers "Sea Of Grass" and Chancler Thomas' untitled work, shared the third-place spot.

More than 30 entries were submitted for the contest.

Honorable mention was awarded to Jamie Avila and Eryn Eppel of West Hardin Middle School, Jonathan Herrera, Jazmyne Brooks, Kaitlyn Stewart, James Stewart, Tanisha McGaw, Emily Gallegos, Corey Oakes, Shayla Piper, Saquia Thomas and Roderick Harris of Parkway Elementary and Lovina Bishop, Laura Osterfield, Katie Knapp, Jordan Dale, Anna Schofield, Audree Ruggles, Amanda Bradley, Alicia Williams, Lili Johnson of Elizabethtown, Radcliff and Louisville.

Prizes also were awarded to Judy Vowels and Brittany Mayhew for answering the weekly poetry question.
