A Louisville man is facing multiple charges in Elizabethtown after he allegedly led a police officer on a foot chase Thursday morning on Ring Road near Freeman Lake Park.
Matthew I. Pike, 31, is charged with third-degree assault of a police officer, second-degree fleeing or evading on foot, third-degree criminal mischief, disarming a peace officer and resisting arrest.
According to an arrest citation, the officer was attempting to locate a suspect in a domestic assault when he saw Pike walking along Ring Road and asked the man for his identification.
Police said Pike ran across Ring Road and the officer pursued. During the chase, the man allegedly pushed the officer to the ground and knocked his Taser from his hands, according to the citation.
Pike is lodged at Hardin County Detention Center in lieu of a $5,000 cash bond.
He also was served warrants from Meade, Breckinridge and Jefferson counties.
