The annual Pops in the Park concert featuring the Louisville Orchestra will not be held this year.
The Louisville Orchestra and its musicians are in contract negotiations. First Federal Savings Bank issued a news release Thursday afternoon saying the event has been called off.
The release added that First Federal will continue to provide the Elizabethtown community with a fireworks display by Zambelli Fireworks Internationale at the 2011 Heartland Music Festival on June 4.
On the Louisville Orchestra website, a news item reads, “the Louisville Orchestra is in negotiations now with its musicians. This is the final year of the orchestra’s collective bargaining agreement, and as such, it is the normal period for these discussions.
“All sides have pledged not to use the media as a tool in our process. Meetings and discussions are ongoing.”
Pops in the Park has been held at Freeman Lake Park for the last 21 years.
