-A A +A

Elizabethtown lost two games over the weekend, dropping a 7-2 decision to Christian Academy-Louisville on Friday and a 5-2 defeat to Woodford County on Saturday. The setbacks snapped a five-game winning streak.

* Visiting Christian Academy-Louisville (15-13) didn’t score after the first inning, but it didn’t matter as it won for the fifth time in seven games and the host Panthers (19-8) suffered consecutive losses for the first time since April 12.

Sophomore Zeke Pinham and senior Cannon Pender both singled and drove in one for Elizabethtown, while sophomore Austin Freyberger and junior Preston Patterson both singled.

Freyberger (2-2) took the loss, giving up six hits and four earned runs in one inning. Freshman Jacob Simpson pitched six innings of scoreless relief, striking out three, walking three and allowing three hits.

* On Saturday, the Panthers took an early lead with a run in the first inning, but the Yellow Jackets tied it in the fourth and broke through with a five-run fifth.

Pender had three hits, including an RBI single. Freshman Jack Wilson had the other RBI on a fielder’s choice.

Pender got the loss, going 4 1/3 innings and allowing nine hits and five earned runs.
