The North Hardin Trojans opened the season by splitting a pair of games over the weekend.
North Hardin lost to homestanding Louisville Fern Creek, 11-3 on Saturday and beat visiting Spencer County, 6-3 on Friday.
n Fern Creek led 6-0 before the Trojans scored three runs in the fifth. But the Tigers tacked on a run in the bottom of the fifth and four more in the sixth to hold North Hardin off.
Senior Jordan Sanchez, junior Graham Mathews, sophomore Javier Echevarria and Shae Krupinski each went 2-for-3 for North Hardin.
Senior Aaron Jones (0-1) took the loss, allowing six runs and six hits in three innings. He struck out three.
n The Trojans scored two runs in the fifth and sixth innings to rally past Spencer County.
Sophomore Trevor Vandermolen went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, while senior Jamaal Wilson was 2-for-3 with two runs, one RBI and one stolen base.

MEADE COUNTY SPLITS TWO GAMES. The Green Wave (1-1) routed 3rd Region rival Owensboro, 10-0 on Saturday and lost to Fern Creek, 3-2 on Friday.
n Junior Keith Carter (1-0) struck out nine and gave up just two singles in six innings as the Green Wave routed the Red Devils.
Senior Jake Wilson had two triples and three RBIs, while freshman John Michael Millay had two singles, two RBIs and scored twice for Meade County. Sophomore Kurt Hall doubled and scored a run.
n The Tigers scored two runs on a wild pitch in the fourth and held off the Green Wave, who had the bases loaded in the seventh.
Senior Zach Kullman doubled for Meade County, while freshman Kase Mattingly had an RBI single.
Wilson (0-1) took the loss, allowing three runs, three hits and two walks in 3 2/3 innings. He struck out eight.
