PREP BASEBALL/SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: John Hardin opens with win (03/15)

The John Hardin Bulldogs started the season off on the right foot.

The Bulldogs rallied from a three-run deficit to post a 9-4 victory over homestanding Louisville Seneca on Thursday in their season opener.

Junior Dale Gumm went 3-for-4 with a double and triple. He scored twice and drove in a run. Sophomore Dakoda Rothermel was 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored.

Senior Montaque Pittman had a double and single, while freshman Landon Sisk collected two singles.

Sophomore Dajour Strong earned his first Bulldog win.

BETHLEHEM13, NORTH HARDIN 2. Leading 4-2, the visiting Eagles scored nine runs in the last two innings to pull away from the Trojans for a lopsided win.

Bethlehem (2-0) scored five runs in the sixth and four more in the seventh.

Sophomore Javier Echevarria had three singles and an RBI for North Hardin (2-2), while sophomore Blake Yates and Shae Krupinski each had two singles.

Senior Aaron Jones (0-2) took the loss as he allowed seven hits, four runs and one walk in 3 1/3 innings.

WASHINGTONCOUNTY 11, FORT KNOX 1 (5 INNINGS). The visiting Eagles (0-3) took a 1-0 lead in the second, but the Commanders (1-0) scored three runs in the next two innings before blowing the game open with a seven-run fourth.

Freshman Coltin Stabler and sophomores John Box and Zachary Slaney each singled for Fort Knox.

LARUECOUNTY 10, BETHLEHEM 4 (8 INNINGS). Junior Brigitte Skaggs went 2-for-5 with a double and five RBIs as the visiting Lady Hawks (1-0) knocked off the Banshees (1-1).

Freshman Jill Hughes chipped in with two doubles and two RBIs, while junior Peyton Gardner had three singles and an RBI. Seven players had two or more hits for LaRue County, which had 17 hits.

Skaggs (1-0) struck out five and gave up 11 hits, four earned runs and two walks in eight innings.
