PREP BASEBALL/SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Meade falls to Male; Lady Hawks fall to Taylor (04/26)

-A A +A

The Meade County Green Wave jumped out to a 2-0 lead against fifth-ranked Louisville Male on Thursday in the Louisville Invitational Tournament, only to watch the Bulldogs score seven unanswered runs en route to a 7-2 win.

Male, which won its fourth straight, tied it in the bottom of the first and took the lead in the second against Meade County sophomore Josh Durbin (2-1), who gave up 10 hits, three earned runs and one walk in five innings.

Green Wave coach Todd Clanton was far from disappointed in Durbin, who had four strikeouts.

“He pitched well,” Clanton said. “We made some mental mistakes that cost us some runs. He did well enough to give us a chance; we just didn’t back him up very well.”

Senior Derek Bruner and junior Keith Carter each had two of Meade County’s six hits, while seniors Jake Wilson and Zach Kullman each singled and scored a run for the Green Wave (12-11).
