PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Central boys top Knox; LaRue downs Meade (01/30)

Senior guard Troy Squires led four players in double figures with 17 points as the visiting Central Hardin Bruins topped 17th District rival Fort Knox, 63-46 on Tuesday.

Squires also had four assists and two steals for Central Hardin (9-10, 4-4 district), which will be the No. 3 seed in the district tournament. Senior guard Andy Kerr chipped in with 12 points, two assists and two steals, while senior forward Cody Elmore had 11 points and two assists.

Senior guard Alex Crowder added 10 points, six rebounds and five steals.

Senior wing Rashaan Allen led Fort Knox (6-13, 0-7) with 12 points. Junior wing Michael Powell scored nine points, while sophomore guard Tarik James and junior wing Xavier Luckey each scored seven.

LARUE COUNTY 44, MEADE COUNTY 29. Senior guard Kelton Ford had 17 points, five steals and two assists as the homestanding Hawks (13-6) handed the Green Wave (6-16) their sixth straight loss.

Junior forward Kody Key-Close chipped in with 11 points, while junior guard Thomas Harman and senior guard Dustin Coulter each scored five. LaRue County, which won its third straight, was 16-of-44 from the field and 4-of-20 beyond the arc.

Senior guard Bryce Garris scored 13 points for Meade County, which was 11-of-32 from the field. Junior forward Charles Mattingly chipped in with four points, seven rebounds and one steal.

LaRue County led 27-9 at the half.

NORTH HARDIN 67, ADAIR COUNTY 26. The homestanding Trojans (17-7) dominated this one from the start, jumping out to a 43-16 halftime lead and cruising to their third straight win.

Senior guard Ruben Gosa led North Hardin with 24 points, seven rebounds and three assists, while senior center Tyler Landry had 14 points and nine rebounds.

Sophomore guard Tyronn King and junior guard Khalil Rasheed each scored eight for the Trojans, who held the Indians to seven field goals. Rasheed also grabbed nine rebounds for North Hardin, which outrebounded Adair County 40-21.

NORTH HARDIN CHRISTIAN 50, SHELBYVILLE CORNERSTONE CHRISTIAN 40. Senior guard Carlos Jones had a double-double (17 points, 14 rebounds) to lead the visiting Falcons (17-2) past Cornerstone.

Chris Kerulis chipped in with 15 points and six rebounds, while junior guard Michael Dial had nine points, two rebounds, two blocks and one assist.

Trailing 19-17 at the half, North Hardin Christian outscored Cornerstone 33-21 in the second half.

CENTRAL HARDIN 83, FORT KNOX 45. Junior guard Aislynn Barnes had 21 points, four assists and three steals as the Lady Bruins won their second straight game with a rout of 17th District foe Fort Knox.

Freshman guard Caynan Powell chipped in with 11 points and five rebounds for Central Hardin (4-18, 2-6 district), while junior guard Mikaela Worth sophomore guard Shelby Maggard each scored nine points.

Eighth-grade guard Mariah Helton scored eight and sophomore forward Autumn Jaggers and eighth-grader Emily Kerr each scored six.

Seventh-grade guard Byanca Powell scored 16 for Fort Knox (1-17, 0-6). Sophomore guard Taiesha Wynder scored 12 and sophomore guard Brenna Stephenson 10.
